At an official event on 17.01.2019 the Swedish-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce “SweCham Bulgaria” was launched. In the ranks of the newly established organisation is one of the largest investors on the Bulgarian market.
SweCham Bulgaria’s main purpose is to develop business relations between the two countries and promote their fruitful cooperation. The organisation’s ambition is to strengthen and improve the economic relations between the two countries. SweCham Bulgaria will be an open organization for business organizations and for Swedish citizens who work, study and live in Bulgaria and for everybody, who loves or is somehow associated with Sweden.
“SweCham Bulgaria” will be the voice of Swedish business and Swedish investment in Bulgaria“, said the chairman of the new organisation is Stefan Bengtsson.
In front of the gathered representatives of the Swedish and Bulgarian business, as well as representatives of the political elite, the Minister of Economy Liliya Ivanova pointed out that last year until October the trade between the two countries was worth more than 300 million euros and showed an increase of 11.3%. “I would like to assure you of our willingness to support new business ventures that will expand the presence of the Swedish business in Bulgaria.“
Sweden’s Ambassador in Bulgaria, Louise Bergholm, said that the creation of the Swedish-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce “SweCham Bulgaria” is a very good start for the new year and added that she is proud of the strong presence of Swedish companies in Bulgaria.
Special guests of the event were representatives of the Swedish state organisation “Business Sweden”, who gave a brief overview of Swedish-Bulgarian relations and investments today.
The event was attended by more than 150 guests from business and government representatives of the diplomatic corps in Bulgaria.
